AGP

AGP -- (Accelerated Graphics Port)
An interface architecture that enables a graphic controller to communiate with the computer and access it's main memory. AGP is a high speed interface designed to handle 3-d technology and store 3-d textures in the main memory rather than the video memory. AGP is one of the newest specification for video card. On the lower end is onboard video, in the middle (allthough a rapidy dissapearing form) is the PCI video card and then comes AGP. AGP comes in 2X, 4X and the new 8X. This does not mean that the computer has eight AGP ports. Rather this means that the computer is able to run AGP cards at eight times the original speed that AGP was created at.
